Hartman Talks Of E.ON's US Ambitions

The following are comments by Ulrich Hartmann, the CEO of the German based E.ON utility group, on the strategy of Europe's second company in the sector and the outlook for acquisitions in the US Hartmann spoke at the company's annual shareholders meeting. On US Securities and Exchange approval for Powergen:

“We don't see any open questions or problems with the Securities and Exchange Commission. We now hope to win approval in about a month.” He said on further expansion into the US markets.

“We're holding a number of promising talks and expect to present you a project in the US Midwest in the near future.” He said. “The American market is strongly fragmented and a number of utilities are listed. Thus the market is close to a consolidation, which will offer significant chances for us”
