Crimea demands that Viktor Chernomyrdin be declared persona non grata

Today, leaders of public political organizations in Crimea, the Ukrainian Republican and Democratic parties, circulated a statement demanding to put an end to the interference into Ukraine’s internal affairs by RF Ambassador to Ukraine Viktor Chernomyrdin. It is said in the statement that “Viktor Chernomyrdin interfered with the internal affairs of the country several times already within the past months. For instance, in the second part of March 2002, he recommended that the Ukrainian leadership make a declaration concerning resolution of the US Congress’ House of Representatives.” In addition, Viktor Chernomyrdin strictly criticized State Secretary with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Alexander Chaly, who said it was impossible for Ukraine to be simultaneously incorporated in the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Community. Such deeds, as authors of the statement think, are not in agreement with the status of the ambassoder. with the ambassador. which is why they ask the president of Ukraine, prime minister, and parliamentary speaker, to whom the letter is addressed, to declare Viktor Chernomyrdin persona non grata. No response from the RF Embassy in Ukraine has yet been received.
