14 Candidates Running For Post Of NTV Editor-in-Chief

A spokesman for the NTV press service informed RIA Novosti today that there are fourteen candidates running for the post of editor-in-chief of NTV, a Russian television channel where a loud scandal has been sparked by management reshuffles this month. The NTV spokesman would not name the candidates, saying that the election of editor-in-chief was "a purely editorial affair." However, press reports revealed that NTV anchor Tatiana Mitkova was the most likely candidate to win the post. A meeting of the NTV editorial staff slated for Tuesday has been postponed till Wednesday evening. The election of the NTV editor-in-chief is expected to take place at that meeting. According to NTV Director General Boris Jordan, if Mitkova is elected editor-in-chief, Vladimir Kulistikov, appointed to the position at an extraordinary session of NTV shareholders April 3, will be re-appointed as Deputy Director General.
