Russia's nuke workers count on cashing in from processing, burying nuclear waste

In ten years to come the Russian Nuclear Power Ministry hopes to earn 20 billion dollars from bringing irradiated /depleted/ nuclear waste from abroad. This was reported on Tuesday by Nuclear Power Minister Alexander Rumyantsev. To him, in addition to this sum can be 600 million dollars for nuclear fuel export from Russia to foreign facilities, built in their time with the assistance of the former USSR. "For that State Duma deputies on Wednesday have to support in the second reading the Nuclear Power Ministry's amendments to the laws regulating operations with nuclear technologies. These amendments will bring the aforesaid sums", said the minister. To Rumyantsev, ecologists are in opposition to adoption of the amendments. "We have reached agreement with most of them. Among the rest are 'irreconcilables', who do not want to listen to us", the minister added.
