The presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan favour the holding of the caspian summit this fall

The presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan are going to ensure the holding of the summit of Caspian states' leaders this fall.

As the Kremlin press service informed RIA Novosti, Vladimir Putin and Saparmurat Niyazov had a telephone conversation Saturday during which they exchanged opinions about preparations for this summit. On Niyazov's initiative, the summit is planned to be held in Turkmenistan. The presidents expressed their satisfaction with the work of expert groups of the participating countries and supported the continuation of comprehensive preparations for the Caspian summit. As is expected, the main theme to be discussed at the summit is the status of the Caspian Sea. According to earlier plans, the summit should have been held in the middle of April. During their conversation, Vladimir Putin invited the Tajik president to visit Russia. Saparmurat Niyazov accepted the invitation with gratitude.
