Moscow is getting ready for Russo-US talks on nuclear security

Moscow is looking forward to the early start of Russian-U.S. talks on the entire range of issues in nuclear security, Alexander Yakovenko, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, told the press on Friday. The Russian leaders "took note of President George W. Bush's remarks on Tuesday that his administration is prepared to continue and expand cooperation with Russia in reducing the nuclear threat," Interfax cites him as saying. Russia is prepared for this cooperation, Yakovenko said. Deep cuts of strategic offensive weapons, while the internationally recognized foundations of strategic stability are maintained and consolidated, must be the main ingredient of this cooperation, he said.
