Moscow sees record-breaking warmth after record-breaking snowfalls

An absolute maximum temperature record for March 14th in Moscow for the whole period of weather observations was beaten yesterday. The previous record was set on March 14th, 1989, when the temperature in the Russian capital reached 7.7 degrees Celsius, the meteorological bureau for Moscow and the Moscow region told Interfax. On March 14th, 2001, the temperature in Moscow exceeded 11 degrees Celsius. Excessive warmth following profuse snowfalls may cause floods in most of Russia, so the rescue services have been put on alert.
