Cruel Chechen militant, wanted by Interpol, detained

A notorious Chechen field commander, Ruslan Akhmadov was detained in Baku, Azerbaijan. Another rebel, a member of Basayev’s band, Badrundi Murtazayev, was detained together with him.

INTERPOL has been searching for Ruslan Akhmadov and his brothers Abu, Rizvan, Ramzan, Uvais, and Apti Akhmadovs. The band they leaded specialised in kidnapping, tortures, violent murders. In the interval between the first and the second Chechen wars Akhmadovs and their band were engaged in kidnapping of civil experts, mothers of soldiers, disappeared in Chechnya, etc. Akhamadovs’ band kidnapped Polish citizens Sofia Fisher-Malonovskaya and Eva Marhvinskaya-Virval, murdered three UK citizens and a New Zealand national (the bandits cut off their heads), shot Itar-Tass photographer Vladimir Yatsina, etc. According to some information, Akhmadovs’ were involved in kidnapping of Kenneth Gluck.
