Governmental commission investigating the causes of Kursk wreck does not consider the scenario of collision with a World War II mine any more

An onboard explosion and a collision with another object are currently the main scenarios behind the sinking of the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk, Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov told the press in Moscow on Tuesday. Klebanov heads the ad hoc governmental commission investigating the causes of the tragedy, Interfax reports. "One should speak less of the scenario in keeping with which the Kursk died due to a collision with a World War II mine," he said. The ill-fated sub sank in the Barents Sea on August 12 of last year, resulting in the deaths of all 118 aboard.
