A man suspected of Kenneth Gluck’s disappearance detained in Chechnya

Chechen law enforcement agencies have detained a man suspected of involvement in the abduction of U.S. citizen and worker of the humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders Kenneth Gluck near the village of Stariye Atagi on January 9. "He has been detained under the investigation into another criminal case - the murder of a Chechen family in Alkhan-Kala, but there are all grounds to assume that the detainee could be involved in the abduction of the American. His involvement in other crimes is also being checked," Chechen Prosecutor Vsevolod Chernov said on Saturday. In commenting on various versions of Gluck's disappearance regularly published by the media, Chernov emphasized that "the investigation has definitely established that Gluck was kidnapped by bandit formations," RIA Novosti reports. What is more, "the investigation has identified concrete suspects in this crime," in particular, "the owner of the car in which Gluck was taken away," the prosecutor said, adding, however, that his service has no information on the American's current whereabouts and physical state.
