Russian woman faces trial in Emirates for extramarital relationships

A 31-yearold woman muscovite has given birth to a boy ahead of schedule while on holiday in Arab Emirates. She is now facing a prison term, because she cannot provide documents certifying her marital status and identifying the child’s father. Under the local legislation, bearing extramarital children is deemed a grave crime, and maternity houses are supposed to inform the police of such cases. Russian embassy’s officials are currently taking pains to tackle this legal difficulty which they have encountered for the first time. The woman’s lover is said to have written a statement acknowledging his paternity, but it is hard to say whether it will satisfy the local authorities. The couple was reported to be on their way to Dubai airport after the vacation when the woman felt childbirth labour and had to be hospitalized, RIA Novosti reports.
