Taleban launches to a counter-offensive and reports about its success. Northern Alliance disproves these reports

Taleban leaders state that they managed to capture the town of Yakavalang in the Afghan province of Bamian, situated in the center of the country. The consul general of Talenban government in Peshavar mullah Nadzhibulla has said that Yakavalang is under Taleban control since Sunday. According to Nadzhibulla, in the course of the attack Taleban forces were met with persistent resistance. Spokesman for the Northern Alliance Akhmad Bahram rejected the information that Taleban forces had captured Yakavalang. A spokesman for Afghanistan President Rabbani Muhammad Ashraf Nadin said that Taleban forces had attacked the town of Dara-e-Suf in the province of Samangan, bordering upon Uzbekistan and Tadjikistan. However they were stopped by the subdivisions of Northern Alliance and suffered losses in staff and equipment.
