RF Foreign Ministry accuses USA of violation of START-1

Spokesman for RF Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko accused USA of violation of the terms of the Strategic Arm Reduction Treaty -1, concerning the process of liquidation of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Yakovenko has stated that according to the treaty, missiles of this kind should be completely liquidated, including all of their stages. Meanwhile, Americans claim that it enough to liquidate only the first stage of the missiles under control of foreign inspectors, and the missile will be considered as a liquidated one, “Interfax” reports. Yakovenko has cited suppositions of experts who say that the liquidation, carried out in such a way, may give USA an opportunity to quickly deploy additional groups of the intercontinental ballistic missiles using the second and the third stages of the missiles.
