An agreement about co-operation of Russian and Canadian regions is approved by the Russian government

The Russian government has approved a drafted agreement between the governments of Russia and Canada on the principles of cooperation between regions of Russia and Canadian provinces and territories. In accordance with the drafted agreement, the parties must establish favorable conditions for and facilitate the development of multilateral cooperation between regions of Russia and Canadian provinces and territories. The Foreign Ministries of Russia and Canada will hold consultations on this issue when necessary. According to the drafted agreement, regions of Russia and Canadian provinces and territories may make agreements on cooperation in spheres that are within the limits of their authority, the Department of Government Information reports. These agreements will not be considered international treaties, RBC announces. The Russian government has told the Foreign Ministry of Russia to hold negotiations with Canada and to sign this agreement after the negotiations.
