HAND COUNT CANCELLED IN ONE OF FLORIDA COUNTIES

Government of Florida’s Miami Dade County has unexpectedly cancelled a hand count in the constituency. It is a serious blow for Democrat candidate Al Gore. According to Lorence King, the county’s election commission chairman, it is impossible to ensure a quality recount of all the votes by hand due to short deadlines. Earlier, Republican candidate George W. Bush expressed “disappointment” over Florida’s Supreme Court ruling to take a full stock of the results of the hand count regarding it as the court’s usurping of the supreme power in the state. According to AP, Republican supporters have staged a sit-in at the premises of the election commission shouting out “show us ballots” and “Bush has won twice” meaning the first voting results and the results of the second count conducted within the first several days after the election. The decision of Miami Dade means that Mr. Gore’s last hopes may be pinned on Broward and Palm Beach counties where the hand count is still in progress.
