Russian papers express shock and sorrow

BBC notes, that Russian papers express shock and sorrow on Friday after the recovery of the first four bodies from the Kursk submarine. One of the bodies has been identified and was found with a note describing the submariners' last hours. "Now we know for sure that their deaths were agonising and long," the conservative Trud comments. "Only now do we begin to understand the scale of the tragedy of the Kursk and the lies surrounding it," the popular Komsomolskaya Pravda says. It recalls that there were reports, later denied, of knocking coming from the submarine after it sank. "Shock, confusion, fury," are the feelings described by the outspoken daily Tribuna. "It seems we actually buried them alive and are expected to go on living with that." "The rulers of Russia are vile people: look how they lied to us," Tribuna says. The government-backed Rossiyskaya Gazeta says "the haste of the operation to find and bring up the submariners' bodies can now be said to have been justified". "The experts now have a chance to determine the exact reason for the deaths of the submariners," the paper says, adding that this would not have been the case if the operation had been postponed until next year. "The authorities are accused of lying and not doing enough," BBC sums up.
