DEFENCE MINISTRY’S WAREHOUSES LOOTED IN MOSCOW SUBURB

Russian Defence Ministry’s warehouses in Podolsk (near Moscow) were looted today in the morning. According to Podolsk’s Internal Affairs Department, about 5 o’clock some 20 men dressed in camouflage bursted into the site on Ulitsa Lobacheva. The warehouses were guarded by two women of pensionable age who could not offer resistance to the intruders. Interfax reports that the men took a large number of automobile components, including tyres and wheels, loaded them onto Kamaz truck and drove off. Investigators along with Moscow Region’s procurator’s office are now working at the site. The damage is being assessed. As PRAVDA.RU has repeatedly mentioned, lootings and fires at Defence Ministry’s warehouses, military units and airfields occur exclusively in autumn, in anticipation of inspections.
