RUSSIAN ROCKET PUTS AMERICAN SATELLITE INTO ORBIT

Today, the Russian rocket Proton-K put into a rated orbit the American commercial telecommunication satellite GE-1A, Russia’s Strategic Missile Force’s press service reports. SMF’s crews had provided for the rocket’s launch from Baikonur spacedrome. The orbit’s altitude is 228 km. Later on, the satellite is to be put into a working geostationary orbit ranging from 7,400 km to 35,786 km, Interfax reports.
