Russian President: Russia Will Carry Out Its Obligations On Withdrawal Of Russian Troops From Military Base In Abkhazia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia "intends to fulfil its obligations on the withdrawal of our troops from our base in Abkhazia", despite "any domestic political problems of Georgia connected with Abkhazia". The president said this at a meeting with journalists. "I want to reaffirm - troops will be pulled out", the president said. The Russian head of state also emphasised that Russia "does not intend to undertake anything except fortify /the Russian-Georgian border/ throughout its entire length".
