Russian Government Against Withdrawal Of Russian Peace-keepers From Abkhazia

The government of Russia tends to believe that "removal of Russian peace-keepers from Abkhazia is fraught with total loss of control over the republic's situation," said deputy head of the Russian government apparatus Alexei Volin on Friday, commenting on yesterday's decision of the Georgian parliament to withdraw CIS peacekeeping from Abkhazia. In Volin's opinion, this action is likely to turn Abkhazia into "a zone of chaos and a threat to the entire region."
