Russia, Iran Agree On Post-conflict Afghan Settlement

Moscow and Teheran share views on key aspects of post-conflict settlement in Afghanistan, said Vyacheslav Trubnikov, Russia's First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Gholam Reza Shafei, Iranian Ambassador to Russia, as they met today on the Ambassador's request. The conferees had detailed debates on developments after anti-terror action took start in Afghanistan to agree on dire necessity for United Nations-sponsored international efforts to gain momentum. The diplomats called for international humanitarian aid to the Afghan nation to step up. They announced both parties' shared intention to go on with regular consultations on the Afghan issue.
