Russia Proposes To Simplify Extradition Procedure And Introduce Common Warrant For Terrorism Cases

Russia proposes to simplify the extradition procedure and introduce a common warrant for terrorism cases, said Yury Chaika, Russian Ministry of Justice at the 24th Conference of European Justice Ministers, currently held in Moscow. The debate was held Thursday behind close doors. The ministers are due to adopt a resolution on measures to combat terrorism on Friday following the end of the meeting. According to Chaika "the today's discussion was hot". Representatives of 36 states commissioned reports putting forward their suggestions on enhancing the combat against international terrorism. It was, in particular, stated that a common notion of terrorism must be worked out and included in international conventions. A possibility of setting up a Coordination Center in the auspices of the Council of Europe or the UN to bring together European countries' efforts was also discussed.
