Speaker Of The Russian Parliament's Upper House Finds Switzerland's Experience In Holding Referendums Interesting

Switzerland's experience and state structure are interesting and will be studied to build a "normal federal state" in Russia, the speaker of the Federation Council (upper house of Russian parliament), Yegor Stroyev, said upon his meeting with the President of Switzerland's National Council, Peter Hess. Stroyev expressed special interest in Swiss legislation which helps settle differences between the central government and regions. Specifically, particularly important issues are decided in Switzerland not by parliament or government, but by referendum, he explained. Peter Hess told journalists that positions of regions are now given more and more attention in Russia. He said this policy will have a positive effect on all aspects of life.
