Vladimir Putin For Improving Legislative Base Of Anti-Terrorist Fight

Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken up for improving the legislative base of the anti-terrorist struggle. Modern terrorism "is not only a threat to peaceful human life. It is a challenge to the very fundamentals of statehood", said the Russian president at a meeting on Thursday with representatives of foreign constitutional courts. One of the vital questions now is the improvement of the international and national legislative base and a joint search for efficient juridical mechanisms to combat terrorism. Putin stressed the need of combining the struggle against terrorism with the observance of the rights and personal freedoms of citizens. Terrorist "do not abide by any norms and rules. But the norms and rules which they seek to destroy they exploit to attain their own goal". "This does not mean we have to step on the same path", said the Russian president. "Observing all the fundamental norms and principles of law", such solutions are to be found that "would not undermine these fundamentals and put an efficient instrument of struggle against terrorism into the hands of states which are opposed to it", said the Russian president.
