Sweden To Assist Russia In Staging Economic Reforms

The Swedish government intends to assist Russia in staging economic reforms and allocate 9 million kronas (about USD 900,000) for these purposes, the press service of the Swedish government informed RIA Novosti. These funds will be used within the Swedish-Russian Cooperation Project programme in the course of two consecutive years starting from 2002. The funds will be channelled for organisation of consultations for staffers of the Russian Ministry for Economic Development and Trade to be held by Swedish experts. Specifically, within the framework of these consultations work will be continued to establish an efficient tax system in the country. Such consultations have been financed by the Swedish government since 1992. They cover various spheres of government management - budget process, general audit, taxation policy. Besides, consultations will be held on WTO normative acts as well as EU rules relating to domestic market.
