Kasyanov Urges Better Coordination Between Fire-Fighting Service And Emergencies Ministry

Operations connected with transferring functions of the fire-fighting department to the Emergencies Ministry should be completed soon, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov reported at a meeting of the Emergencies Ministry's leadership in Moscow. He also urged for better coordination between the two services for preventing emergency situations. In general, the PM stressed Russia needs a more effective civil defense system and, in particular, a better system of communication restoration in case of emergencies and a more effective system of informing residents about emergencies.
