Security Council Get-together In Moscow

At a sitting of the Russian Security Council, devoted to Russia's mobilisation readiness, Vladimir Putin proposed to discuss reliability of state defense control systems. Opening up the sitting, Vladimir Putin noted that to be discusses is "not only the state and readiness of troops but also stability of the production and resources base in case of a potential aggression". The president added that "stability and dependability of the systems of state defense control" will be under discussion. Noting that "thanks God, nothing extraordinary is happening to us", the president said that "we've begun to handle this question" in order to avoid "idle talk". We must handle such "seemingly routine questions every day" so as "unforeseen circumstances do not emerge", stressed Vladimir Putin. He said that this Security Council meeting will continue to discuss matters related to the military organisation of state, its qualitative and structural renovation. The basic documents in such work are, according to the president, the military doctrine and the national security concept. Vladimir Putin said that, in connection with the September 11 events in the United States, he has given an instruction to specify several principled clauses of documents related to military-technological cooperation with foreign states and coordination of activities of the lawenforcement and foreign-policy departments.
