Russian humanitarian aid mission in Kabul

A column of 13 Russian vehicles was seen entering Kabul on the night of November 26th. The Russian news agency Interfax had announced previously that 12 transport aircraft were arriving at Bagram airport, taking the “equipment necessary” to set up a diplomatic mission in Kabul.

President Vladimir Putin announced that a large-scale Russian humanitarian aid operation was under way in Afghanistan, claiming that this was the largest operation undertaken by the Russian Air Force in recent years. He claimed that the operation was to be carried out with the aid of the American forces in the area, at the request of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, which has guaranteed the safety of Russian personnel in the country.
