Baltika Brewing Insists On Its Claims Against Tobacco Company Using Its Trademark

The Baltika Brewing Company has filed an appeal to the Moscow Regional Arbitration Court against the court decision to reject its lawsuit against the Metatabak closed corporation related to violation of trademark rights, Alexander Sivkov, Head of Baltika's Legal Department, told RBC. Baltika claimed 200,000 rubles (about $6,689) in damages from Metatabak. The brewing company protests against the court ruling issued on October 31. As it was reported earlier, the Moscow Regional Arbitration Court granted a lawsuit filed by Baltika to ban Metatabak from using three trademarks belonging to the brewing company. Additionally, the court obliged Metatabak to remove the brewing company's trademarks from 300,000 boxes of Baltika-3 and Baltika-9 cigarettes, produced in accordance with a contract with the VTF closed corporation (Vladikavkaz).
