Federal Budget Surplus Reaches $5.98Bn In January-September 2001

The federal budget surplus amounted to 178.8 billion rubles (about $5.98 billion) in January-September 2001 (the corresponding figure for January-September 2000 is 151 billion rubles (about $5.05 billion)), the State Statistics Committee of Russia reports. Revenues to the federal budget reached 1.108 trillion rubles (about $37.06 billion) (including 1.025 trillion rubles (about $34.28) in tax revenues), and expenditures amounted to 929.6 billion rubles (about $31.09 billion). 169.8 billion rubles (about $5.68 billion), or 18.3% of the total sum of federal budget expenditures, were allocated for financial aid to regions of the Russian Federation. The expenditures on servicing state debts amounted to 208.7 billion rubles (about $6.98 billion) in January-September 2001, which make up 22.5% of the total budget expenditures (compared to 23.0% in January-September 2000 and 27.1% in January-September 1999).
