Kiselev will not give up license for broadcasting. Ministry for Press and Mass Media is surprised by such chaotic actions

The situation around the Moscow TV channel TV-6 has become more complicated. Now, TV-6 General Director Yevgeny Kiselev says that the decision of MNVK (Moscow independent broadcasting corporation) on giving up a license to broadcast of January 14 is now invalid. A letter on the subject was sent to Russia’s Ministry for Press and Mass Media by the TV-6 staff. The staff asks the Ministry to recall the previous letter.

Earlier, the decision on the rejection of the license was signed by TV Chief Executive Pavel Korchagin. The director general of the TV company says that the problem has not been considered by the board of directors. And Pavel Korchagin was not authorized to decide on the rejection. In accordance with the legislation, it is the board of directors that is authorized to make a decision on giving up the license.

The Ministry for Press and Mass Media, in its turn, was very surprised by the chaotic actions of the TV-6 leadership. The ministry’s press-service informs that the actions hamper the positive settlement of the crisis that has already outlined. In addition, the possibility of the TV-6 management and journalists to carry on a constructive important dialogue and to manage the economic activity is now being called into question.

At the same time, as RIA Novosti informs, on January 21, court officers delivered a decision of the Moscow arbitration court on the suspension of TV-6 broadcasting to the Ministry for Press and Mass Media. The document reads that the license currently in force cannot be handed over to any other company.

In his interview to RTR, Minister for Press and Mass Media Mikhail Lesin said that a tender for the right to broadcast on the TV-6 channel would be held at the end of March. This week, a decision on a temporary permit to broadcast on the TV-6 frequency is to be made. The minister says that it is more likely that some other company, and not TV-6, will win the permit for broadcasting.
