Russia, Eu On The Road To Common Economic Space

Russia and the European Union intend to discuss elaboration of a concept of a single economic space. Yevgeny Monakin of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade told reporters that these issues were considered at the Russia-EU cooperation committee's session held in Brussels November 30. These issues will be also touched upon in the course of the forthcoming visit to Moscow by high-ranking representatives of the European Commission - External Relations Commissioner Christopher Patten and Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy - due to take place this week. Although the concept is being discussed at the moment, it is premature to speak about the beginning of talks on creation of a single economic space.
