Moscow To Face 30% Rise In Tariff For Energy In 2002

Tariffs for electricity will be increased in 2002 in Moscow, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Valery Shantsev announced in an interview with an RBC correspondent. He explained this rise will be connected with a general increase in tariffs of natural monopolies and stated that, according to Moscow legislation, tariffs may be raised twice a year in Moscow. The Deputy Mayor reported that this rise in tariffs will be about 20 or 30 per cent.
