Israeli soldiers kill 8-year-old

The boy was shot with a rubber bullet aimed at his head during confrontations with Israeli armed forces on 8th December. Gravely injured, he has died in hospital.

The Israeli troops using rubber bullets have the habit of aiming for the eyes, to make the projectile as harmful as possible, since they do not use metal bullets in crowd control incidents. The Palestinian demonstrators are involved in skirmishes and stone-throwing in protest at the fact that Israel occupied the Palestinian lands in 1947 and has systematically refused to obey UN Security Council orders to hand them back to their owners.

This death brings to 1,103 the number of deaths since the beginning of the uprising, of Intifada, of September 2000.
