Natalya Malinko: Street salesmen fool Mexican police

Traditionally, the central streets of Mexico and other cities are overcrowded by street salesmen who cover the pavements with toys mostly on the eve of the Christmas holidays. Complaints of the owners of nearby shops, official bans for trade or police patrols are ineffective in struggle against such street business. The street salesmen have their own security system: agents stand at the corners of the streets ready to inform about approaching policemen by radio phones. Then it takes several minutes for the salesmen to pack the goods and escape.

Today a clash between the police and street salesmen occurred in one of the Mexican cities; ten people have been detained.
