Russian Defense Ministry Refutes Allegations on Possible Landing of Russian Marines in Iraq

Head of the press service of the Russian defense ministry Nikolai Deryabin reported to RIA Novosti that the Russian defense ministry refuted on Saturday allegations reported in certain mass media regarding intentions of the Russian military leadership to create a ground grouping of marines for their subsequent landing in Iraq.

Deryabin described the information on the alleged repetition by the Russian military top of "the Pristina variant" in Iraq as totally absurd and not corresponding to reality.

Deryabin also refuted rumors disseminated by certain mass media regarding alleged agreements between Moscow and Tel Aviv on exchange of information and warning in case of possible missile attacks against Israel from Iraqi territory."
