General Prosecutor's Office investigates illegal selling of 300 tons of silver

The General Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case on the fact of stealing state resources allocated to the State investment corporation (Gosinkor), the information and public relations department of the General Prosecutor's Office told RBC. Investigators believe that some 300 tons of silver allocated to Gosinkor, were illegally sold in 1996. Former Gosinkor head and former head of the Presidential Administration Yury Petrov, authorities of the Russian Committee of Precious Metals and high-ranking officials of Guta Bank are to be questioned within the framework of this case.

At present, investigators are examining documents at Guta Bank.
