Recluse Returned Home in Taiga

Recluse Agafya Lykova has returned home in the upper reaches of the river Bolshoi Abakan in Siberia from Goryachy Klyuch where she had undergone a month-long medical treatment, said the press service of the Kemero Region Administration.

The press service said that it took the Lykovs five days on foot to reach Goryachy Klyuch where they restored their health. They were old believers (the Christians who refused to accept Church reforms). Agafya, 60, who has been living alone in the Taiga for a long time could not have travelled all by herself, especially in winter. So, Governor Tuleyev ordered to deliver the recluse to the place of destination by helicopter.

Moreover, the governor provided her with a saw fuelled by petrol, axes and cement to repair the oven. In January flour, cereals and other foodstuffs were delivered to Agafya, the press service recalled.
