Russian Government May Help Saratov Plant Launch New Planes

The Saratov Aircraft Factory (SAZ) was today visited by Russian Deputy Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Alexander Brindikov. The visit may result in the launch of new aircraft models - the Yak 42 D100 and Yak42 D200 - on to the Russian market.

According to the Saratov Region's Ministry for Industry, in the light of Brindikov's visit it was decided that SAZ would present designs for the two new aircraft to the Ministry for Industry, Science and Technology. If the designs receive the thumbs-up, the factory will be given government assistance in launching the models on to the market and organising their leasing.

Brindikov said that as a result of his visit to SAZ he intends to hold a meeting on implementing the construction project for the new aircraft with the Yakovlev design bureau, air freight companies, experts from the Transport Ministry, and other interested parties.

The Saratov Aircraft Factory is part of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency (Rosaviakosmos). It specialises in producing and servicing the Yak 40, Yak 42, Yak 42D, and Yak 54 planes.
