Chechen Guerrillas Hire Under Age Children

Foreign Minister stated that terrorists do not control the situation in Chechnya

One may say it for sure now that the situation in the Chechen republic of the Russian Federation is not determined by terrorists. The process of the political regulation of the conflict has become irreversible. This is the Russian government's stand about the Chechen republic, as Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov put it during his online interview to the newspaper People’s Daily.

According to the foreign minister, the coming Constitution referendum, as well as presidential and parliamentary elections in Chechnya are going to become very important stages on the way of the political settlement of the situation in the republic. OCSE and Council of Europe observers were invited for the referendum. In addition to that, representatives of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are going to observe the election process too. “Such development of the situation is definitely not good for terrorists, who settled in Chechnya. It is not good for their sponsors abroad either. The Chechen nation wants peaceful life in their republic,” Ivanov stressed out.

Chechen guerrillas’ leader Shamil Basayev might be implicated in the explosion of the governmental building in Chechen capital Grozny. Seventy people were killed as a result of the blast. Shamil Basayev’s implication in that act of terrorism is likely to be confirmed as a result of the current investigation. As assistant to the Russian president Sergey Yastrzhembsky said in his interview to RTR television channel, Basayev’s statement, which was published on a Chechen separatist website (Shamil Basayev, one of the last Chechen guerrillas’ leader, claimed responsibility for the act of terrorism) “is supposed to be considered very carefully.” To crown it all, Shamil Basayev claimed responsibility for the recent hostage taking crisis in Moscow in October.

Chechen guerrillas are ready to take extreme measures at the moment. As PRAVDA.Ru reported before, Chechen terrorists hire under age children. Temporal office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Chechnya has a certain document, which calls upon under age Chechen children to enrol bandit groups. The document also contains a short questionnaire for them. Separatist literature and leaflets, mining activity instructions, various maps and other things like that were found in a house of Starye Atagy settlement in Chechnya. The house belonged to the organizer of the so-called Jamaat. The police are currently looking for the owner of the house.
