17 International Scientific Research Forums to Be Held in Saint Petersburg as Part of City 300th Anniversary

As part of the city's 300th anniversary 17 international scientific research forums will be held in Saint Petersburg in 2003. This was announced in a report by the city committee on science and higher education today. As Committee Chairman Alexander Victorov said at a press conference today, the programme of events for the city's anniversary involving scientific and educational institutions has already been organised. The programme will include various competitions and shows including the competitions Teacher of the Year and Student of the Year.

Also, as part of the city's anniversary celebrations, USD 6.56 million has been allocated from the state budget to restoring 9 universities and 4 Russian science academies. Most of the restoration work has been done at the Saint Petersburg state university, the Institute of Ethnography and the Saint Petersburg Centre of the Science Academy of Russia.
