Boeing Chief Hails Prospects For Cooperation With Sukhoi Design Office

Boeing Chief Executive Officer Phil Condit has hailed prospects for cooperation between his company and Russia's Sukhoi design office aiming to develop a regional jetliner. Mr Condit said that in a RIA Novosti interview Monday.

Boeing is now looking into the would-be aircraft's sales prospects and possible markets, said Mr Condit. Sukhoi has grandiose expertise and knowledge in the area of aircraft technologies, said the Boeing CEO. The project can therefore be an interesting combination of Boeing's experience in studying the market and Sukhoi's ability to design and build a new model of jetliner, according to Mr Condit.

The company is looking into the project at the moment. Boeing's final decision depends on a number of factors, in the first instance, the prospective demand for the new aircraft and economic benefits of the project.

The company is taking a serious study of the project, assured Mr Condit. Each of Boeing's steps will be contingent on further developments. If the company comes to the conclusion that the project is rewarding, it will certainly act as investor, summed up the interviewee.
