Latin America helps Venezuela

“Friends of Venezuela” is the name of the countries which have agreed to do what they can to help the beleaguered Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, as his country enters its seventh week of the general strike.

The opposition in Venezuela is doing everything within its power, democratically or not, to topple Chavez, who was democratically elected to run the country until 2006 with 60% of the vote in 2000.

The Friends of Venezuela will hold meetings with the opposition, trying to convince them to protest through actions which fall within the constitution, not through subversion.
