Suicide Bombers Leave 70 Victims in Tel Aviv

Islamic Jihad and the Ezzedin al Qassam Brigade (Hamas) have claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on Sunday in the old part of Tel Aviv, which has caused at least 20 deaths and over 50 injuries. The attacks took place at around 20.00 MSK.

The two suicide bombers detonated their bombs simultaneously in the old bus station part of the city, where there are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants, which were filling up at the end of the first working day of the week.

It is feared that many more victims will be discovered, since the area is one frequented by many immigrants from the Far East, who are not legalised and who do not have medical insurance, so they are officially unable to claim medical treatment.

This is the first terrorist attack in Israel since 28 November, when twelve people were murdered in northern Israel in an attack on a bus. The Palestine Authority has condemned the attacks.
