Dollar rate continues to rise on interbank market

The rate for deals for US currency on the interbank market has continued to increase this morning and has remained above the level of RUR31.90 per dollar, achieved before the New Year. Banking experts remarked on this fact in an interview with RBC. The experts pointed out that deals to be completed on January 8 were made at a rate of RUR31.92-31.93 per dollar on the interbank market now. Therefore, their level exceeded the official dollar rate by RUR0.14-0.15. At the same time the experts underlined that it had so far been impossible to estimate the volume of trade on the interbank market, since deals are made there without registration with MICEX. For the same reason the experts found it difficult to assess the role of the Central Bank of Russia in today's trade on the interbank currency market.
