Sentence pronounced on two Chechen militants

On Friday, Pyatigorsk municipal court (Northern Caucasus) sentenced Isa Gazimamedov and Abdullah Abdurakhmanov to 12 and 20 years in prison, respectively, for the murder of a Russian soldier in Chechnya.

The court found both militants guilty of murdering Private Andrei Mitzler from the Saratov region and kidnapping his fellow soldier Shamil Akhmadulin from Bashkiria (a republic in the Urals region).

The soldiers were attacked when they were away from their military unit. After killing Andrei Mitzler, the bandits took possession of his assault rifle. They transported Shamil Akhmadulin to Ingushetia and kept him in the cellar of a private house.

Isa Gazimamedov will serve his 20-year sentence in a high-security prison, while Abdullah Abdurakhmanov - in a minimum-security prison.
