Russia's Minister of Atomic Energy: Going back to North Korea Would Be Interesting

Speaking at a press conference, Russia's Minister of Atomic Energy, Alexander Rumyantsev said that at this time North Korea had no technological potential to make nuclear weapons. He noted that Russia had had no contacts with North Korean government as concerned nuclear energy in 10 years. He continued to say that, 'This was the time when the US, South Korea, and Japan promised to build a nuclear power plant in North Korea but did nothing. For us, 10 years would have been more than enough time to do that.' The minister said that going back to North Korea would be interesting to his ministry.

Mr. Rumyantsev said that at this time the Ministry of Nuclear Energy of Russia was doing construction in a number of countries, such as India, China, and Iran.
