RIA Novosti launches new internet project

RIA Novosti is launching a new Internet project - an information portal for the Siberian Federal District. Located at http://sibir.rian.ru, it is the agency's third Internet project designed with the purpose of promoting RIA Novosti products on regional markets and integrating information flows in the federal districts. The previous projects were RIA Novosti's own pages for the Urals (http://ural.rian.ru) and for the Northwest (http://nw.rian.ru).

Visitors of RIA Novosti's Siberian page can gain access to a wide scope of information from all republics, territories, districts and autonomies constituting this large Russian region. The page features the following columns: hot news; official documents and press releases from enterprises, government bodies, public and political organizations of the Siberian District; announcements of upcoming events; analytical and archival materials. Apart from that, the page offers a unique service - a catalogue of enterprises and organizations of the Siberian District. The page is supported by the agency's regional office in the Siberian District and by local information agencies, Internet pages and media.

RIA Novosti keeps improving its methods of producing and distributing information. The agency was one of the first professional suppliers of information on the Russian market to have been engaged in active work on the Internet market. On January 1st, 2001, it opened free access to its information products at http://www.rian.ru.

In 2002 and 2003, the agency will open Internet pages for the Central, Volga, Southern and Far Eastern federal districts.
