Kaliningrad ship-builders to fulfil Norwegian contract

The Yantar (Amber) ship-yard in Russia's Kaliningrad region is now completing a large tanker hull for a Dutch company. The tanker will be delivered to the client several days from now. (The Kaliningrad region is a Russian enclave on the Baltic coast -- Ed.) Officials from the ship-yard's administration noted that their enterprise became quite popular with foreign clients this year because of its top-quality performance and punctuality. Right now, the Yantar ship-yard is building yachts for some German companies. Meanwhile this enterprise has been building dry-cargo carriers and coast-guard motor boats for Scandinavia over many consecutive years.

According to the Yantar press serviced, Norway's Vik Sandvik group placed an order for the 2003 period December 14. The ship-yard is to launch four large fishing vessels on its orders; the hulls of three Arctic trawlers were commissioned by that company over the 2002 period.
