Far Eastern authorities combat economic crimes

Eleven criminal cases have been instigated into violations of the Tax Code as part of the Magistral special operation which has been carried out since early this year by the main department of the federal tax police in the Far Eastern District. Spokesman for the head of the main department Valery Knyazev said as much Thursday.

"The operation is aimed at preventing economic crimes and legal offences on railway transport, at a detailed analysis of transporting companies' financial and economic activities," said Valery Knyazev.

Tax police officers, the press service reported, along with other law-enforcement and controlling bodies have revealed facts of increased wages, increasing the cost of provided services, tax evasion through "virtual" accounts in "problematic" banks, concealing profits from cargo transportation and others.

A set of taken measures, Valery Knyazev said, helped retrieve for the budget over 424 mln roubles (1 dollar totals about 32 roubles), including arrears and debts of the previous years.
